The area of Jokhang Temple in Tibet is a good place to shoot human interest. Many devotees have come here early in the morning for prayers. But honestly, shooting here, it can be quite difficult. First of all, the security measures here are very strict; there are enforcers everywhere, police, police in plainclothes, armed police, and even military patrols. Tourists can not stay too long in the vicinity of the temple, especially the square. Nor can you set up a tripod in the square, or sit on the ground to take pictures, or law enforcement officers will come forward to warn and ask you to leave.

And also, with all the people coming and going, and all the different characters, it’s not easy to create a composition.

I found my subject near the gate. She was spinning her prayer wheel while staring at the ground. From the expression on her face, I could detect her worry, uncertainty, and helplessness.

Was her loved one sick? Or was she in the midst of adversity?
