During an expedition at Dongchuan, it coincided with a festival.
I took the opportunity to participate to see if I could find suitable subjects for portraiture.
The festival was very lively with people coming and going. There was a stage, many where many performances are held there. Other than the villagers, parents with their children were among the audience.
The atmosphere was like a carnival.
In the crowd, I spotted this little girl and she noticed me too.
I smiled at her and made a gesture that I wanted to take a picture of her.
She seemed to hesitate for a moment; after all, there is always some anxiety about being pointed at by a stranger with a camera.
After a while, I noticed that she continued to look in my direction. I pointed at the camera again; she did not say anything. I think I may have asked her permission.
She was perhaps a little uneasy, leaning into her mother’s arms and grabbing her hands.
At that moment, in her mind, her mother’s embrace and hand, was the safest place.
Then she smiled lightly and looked at me confidently, but did not let go of her mother’s hand for a moment.
I hurriedly pressed the shutter to turn this moment into eternity.
I love her innocent expression and confident smile. What do you think?
